The short version
Shade Map has no accounts and no advertising. To show you a property, the App sends that property's address or map coordinates to our measurement service and to Apple Maps. It does not track you across other apps or websites, and it does not sell your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how Shade Map ("the App"), operated by Garded LLC ("we", "us", "our"), handles information. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. What the App is
Shade Map shows how much direct sunlight a property gets. It builds a three-dimensional model of a building and the trees around it, powered by measure.so technology, then works out where shadows fall across a day and across the year.
2. Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account. There is no login, no password, and no profile. Specifically:
- The property you look up. When you enter an address or choose a location, the App sends that address or its map coordinates to our measurement service so it can return the building outline, the building height, and details of nearby trees. This is the one piece of information the App genuinely needs to work.
- Map imagery. The App requests satellite imagery for the same location from Apple Maps. Apple receives those coordinates as part of serving the imagery. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
- Your device location. The App does not require access to your device's location. If a future version offers to find your current address, iOS will ask your permission first and you can decline and type an address instead.
- No advertising and no cross-app tracking. The App contains no third-party advertising SDKs and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. What stays on your device
Your settings live only on your device and are not sent to us. That includes which reason you chose when you first opened the App (for example, planning a garden or checking a roof), which map layers you have switched on, your chosen shade colour, and whether you have seen the introduction. Deleting the App removes all of it.
4. Subscriptions and purchases
Shade Map is a paid app offering auto-renewing subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or receive your payment card details.
We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives a non-identifying, app-generated identifier and your purchase and subscription status, so the App can tell whether your access is active. It does not receive your name or email address from us. We also send RevenueCat the reason you selected on the introduction screen, as a label attached to that anonymous identifier, so we can understand which kinds of customers find the App useful. 5. How information is used
We use the address or coordinates you provide solely to produce the sun and shade result you asked for, and to show the map behind it. We use purchase status solely to unlock the App for people who have paid.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers needed to run the App — our measurement service, Apple, and RevenueCat — and only the information described above. We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so.
7. Retention and deletion
Property lookups may be retained by our measurement service in operational logs for a limited period so we can diagnose faults and improve accuracy. Everything else lives on your device, and deleting the App removes it. To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it, email thisdudestartedsomething@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Shade Map is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Because the App has no accounts, the practical route is to email us at the address above. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it in the App.
